Zynga has made it very clear that they are going to stick to their very publicly mentioned “Holiday 2009″ release (has been on the Mafia Wars “Travel” menu for sometime). They have released additional content for their Mafia Wars expansion into Bangkok requiring people to obtain preparation items prior to being able to access Bangkok. These preparation items require going back into old content and doing jobs. There are a total of 4 items that can be obtained … three of which are available during the “head start” period (see table below).
Zynga is celebrating the DVD/Blu-Ray release (here in the USA) of the upcoming crime/gangster movie Public Enemies with a special loot event starting Sunday.
We are becoming increasingly accustomed to these “Loot Events”. I personally like them a lot but I think that Zynga could still offer more rewarding equipment (not only during these events, but also from their 25 Godfather Reward Points weekly offers).
I will give Zynga some props for NOT having a Pop-Up “publish to my facebook Wall” and instead having something that we can choose to publish to our walls if we would like to. I think most people have enough “common” sense to not need an antagonizing box in their face every-time they loot a special event item.
I also like the Factoids that were included on some of the loot items. Although some of this seemed to serve as an additional advertising mechanism the additional info surrounding a particular item was nice.

Many of us that have played Mafia Wars much understand the importance of having a large mafia and “Mafia Wars” Facebook friends. Part of the struggle with that is also being able to effectively look at our Facebook news feeds and see content related to only Mafia Wars (for Job Help, War Help, etc).
Until one of our fans (thanks Brian) tipped me off on this little technique … I didn’t know that you could filter your Facebook News Feed with an application filter.

For the players that log in every day, Zynga has a feature within their Daily Chance called Ticket Mastery. This is a great way to get a couple extra skill points every week to make your Mafia Wars character better. Here we’ll discuss the strategy that we prefer for using this extra bonus.
Ticket Mastery:
Day 1-4 [4 tickets] = use for 1 skill point
Day 5-7 [3 tickets] + purchase 1 additional ticket with 2 Godfather Reward Points = use for 1 skill point
If for some reason that you don’t play daily, you can always use 2 Ticket Mastery for an additional ticket.
By following this strategy you will end up with 2 additional skill points every week and only use 2 Reward Points.
Some people advocate that you should save all of your Ticket Mastery and claim it when you are at Ticket Mastery 6 of 6. This randomly awards 1 to 5 Godfather Reward Points. We do not believe that this will allow you to improve your character as consistently and immediately as our recommended strategy.
Daily Chance Schedule:
You have until Friday morning at 6:00a PST to play the last free Daily Chance ticket. Once that time passes, you are no longer eligible to redeem your Ticket Mastery. The Daily Chance #’s are drawn on Friday afternoon … once the #’s have been drawn your Ticket Mastery progress is reset for the forthcoming week.
Not 100% sure about these times. Will update tomorrow with more specific ones.
As we suspected, Zynga released a Food Fight Crate shortly after their Thanksgiving Loot Event came to a conclusion. We cannot fault them for trying to make a profit.
We have NEVER recommended buying a crate. Nothing has changed yet on that topic.

The Mafia Wars Moscow expansion had an interesting twist. We were required to choose a side while doing jobs. This allowed a little variation in the loot able to be obtained from doing jobs. For most Moscow Episodes the choice wasn’t that difficult … at least until you reached Episode 6. Most people always want to obtain the best loot possible. The only episode where this wasn’t a clear cut decision is Episode 6.
What if you could obtain the best loot from BOTH sides even after your choice was finalized (after you complete Level 3 mastery your side is made permanent). There is a currently a glitch that will allow you to do both jobs from Mafiya / Vory allowing you to obtain the best loot that Episode 6 has from both sides.
Steps for doing the Vory VS Mafiya “Job Switch”:
Right Click on “Do Job” button and open in a new tab/window (see screenshot below)
Change the job ID# (example: &job=78&tab=) at the end of the URL from 78 to 81 (or vice-versa).

Zynga has announced that there will be an official “Thanksgiving Loot Event” (AKA Food Fight) starting Thursday at 12:01a PST till Monday at 11:59p PST.
This will probably be similar to their past “loot event weekends” where the quantity of loot will be limited (probably to 32).

Zynga introduced a new Mafia Wars browser toolbar (only works for Internet Explorer and FireFox) and is enticing people to install it by offering them a free Utility Belt [armor, 30 Attack|30 Defense].
I’ve personally never been fond of browser toolbars myself as I believe they excessively track your pages visited and do other unwanted things.
For those wanting the Utility Belt … there is a way to get it without installing the toolbar. Here is how:
